Invictus Games Toronto 2017
In 2014 the inaugural Invictus Games which took part in London stood as a highlight in the year’s sporting calendar as an international, multi-sport adaptive event that brings together wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women - both serving and veterans - from around the world. The Invictus Games embraced the respect for our Armed Forces and the strong desire to show the nation’s support for those who have sacrificed so much in service.
The Invictus Games were launched by Prince Harry. On a trip to the Warrior Games in the USA in 2013 he saw how the power of sport could help physically, psychologically and socially and decided to bring the concept of a similar international sporting event to the UK. Following the inaugural Invictus Games in London in 2014, the Games were then held in Orland in May 2016. Earlier this year Prince Harry, Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, announced that the third Invictus Games would be held in Toronto, Canada from 23 - 30 September 2017.
The Endeavour Fund was a key stakeholder in the early stages of Invictus Games, providing the initial seed capital required and working in partnership with the Ministry of Defence to get the project off the ground. We were immensely proud to be involved in this exciting project from the very start and pleased to help provide opportunities to so many people to focus and catalyse their recovery through sport.
We are delighted to have continued the association with the second edition of the games which took part at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World, near Orlando, Florida by contributing towards the UK Armed Forces teams which competed in the 2016 games.
We will continue to champion this incredible example of how our wounded, injured and sick can take part in high level competative and international sport and are proud to once again be involved with the UK Armed Forces team comepting in the Invictus Games Toronto 2017.
