This year Climb 2 Recovery will be recruiting 18 new members from the WIS community who will all have the opportunity to work towards the climbing instructor qualification.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend 1 of our 3 courses based in the Peak District.
The format of the course is progressive. If you have little or no climbing experience you would complete an introduction to climbing and lead climbing. Should you wish to continue working towards a qualification you could be back on the next course to gain further experience and learn more about the climbing instructor qualification. The third stage would be to complete the climbing instructor course and finally a 2-day assessment to become a qualified instructor. It takes around 18 months to gain this qualification and a fair bit of work from anyone wishing to complete the award. It is by no means compulsory for anyone to become a climbing instructor but it is an option for those looking to seek employment in the outdoor industry.
The courses are all residential, Climb 2 Recovery will cover the cost of accommodation, food, equipment and professional instructors.
The course dates are:
Course 1: 24th – 27th April
Course 2: 28th – 31st May
Course 3: 3rd – 6th September
In addition, Climb 2 Recovery will be running a 10 day introduction to Alpine climbing course for a small number of people. New members from course 1 and 2 will be eligible to apply for the course based in Chamonix this August.
