Climb 2 Recovery helps wounded, injured and sick veterans with their rehabilitation through climbing. By taking part in this course, veterans can work towards their climbing qualification.
There are three 4 day climbing courses in the Peak District, which each involving 6 veterans that are already on the course and 6 places for new participants. This way veterans can pass on the skills they have learnt to those that are new to climbing.
The course would run in four sections:
- New members would learn basic climbing techniques both indoor and outside.
- Those who have completed part 1 would learn to climb using traditional equipment.
- Those ready would complete their climbing instructor course.
- Once all climbing instructor criteria is met, members can complete the instructor assessment.
In 2019, Climb 2 Recovery are running two family days to give the opportunity for partners, children and close friends involved. They have qualified instructors in the organisation that will run a day to try climbing and meet other members and their families.
